General Research Interests:

Dr. Jameson's research interests focus on investigating the ways in which individuals understand and conceptualize naturally occurring categories in the real world. Ongoing experimental studies involve topics related to categorization behaviors; modeling concept formation for perceptual stimuli (e.g., the cognitive organization of color sensations and its relationship to linguistic classifiers); the development and breakdown of these cognitive functions; and optimum performance in tasks involving color codings. In this research special emphasis is given to the development and proper use of quantitative methods for examining cross-cultural universals in cognitive processing, as well as methods for identifying and characterizing processing differences across individuals sampled from non-homogeneous and "homogeneous" subject populations.
