In August of 1996, a great
artist and dear friend, Tanjore Brinda died in Madras. A singer and vina player
in the South Indian tradition, she was a master musician and was noted particularly
for her interpretation of her own delicate and refined family tradition, shared
by such other artists in her family as T. Viswanathan, T. Ranganathan and
Balasaraswati. Her voice will be missed
