Music Examples

Examples heard in class can be heard here

Note: These examples were designed to be heard in the computer labs for Social Sciences on the first floor of Social Sciences Tower. Some of you will naturally wish to listen at home. To do so you must have RealPlayer installed and configured for your computer. There is a free version available but they make it difficult to find on their web site. Please note that some of the examples are RealAudio and others are MP3 files that are forced to stream. The only way you can hear these is to have your RealPlayer configured correctly for your browser. However, please be advised that if you don't like to use the labs, you are on your own, and it is pretty cold and dark out there.

Note on Configuring RealPlayer for streaming media:

If you cannot play the mp3 files, try the following procedure.
a. From the Tools menu in RealPlayer 10, click on the preferences option.
b. From the category pane on the left, double-click on 'Content' and select 'Media Types'.
c. Next, click on the 'Advanced' button on the right side of the Media Types pane.
d. Scroll down the list of Media Type associated with RealPlayer 10 and under Other Media, check if the 'Real-Time Streaming Protocol' box is checked. If not, check this box to associate RealPlayer with RTSP formats.
e. Click on the 'OK' button to save the changes made.
