      The Rules
      1. You must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA in order to qualify
      for the Certificate in Ethnomusicology.

      2. You must have completed or expect to complete
      by the time of graduation three courses from the following list.

        Anthro 138O Ottoman Music and Society,
        Anthro 138M Music as Expressive Culture,
        Anthro 138P Music of Asia,
        Anthro 138Q Latino Music,
        Anthro 139 Africa and AfroAmerican Music,
        Anthro 138R Cross Cultural Parameters of Popular Music,
        Anthro 139 Music of the Philippines and Indonesia
        Anthro 139 Music of Greater Mexico,
        Anthro 138N Readings in Ethnomusicology,
        Anthro 175A Cantometrics
        Antrho 138 Music of Japan and Okinawa

        .


      3. You must attend at least three concerts, each of a different type of music and write a one-page report on each.

      4. Consult with Robert Garfias, for information on the concert reports and the type of concert that will be accepted. Turn this in at the same time that you submit your application.

      5. Submit a copy of your transcript together with this form.

      Please turn in this completed application to Robert Garfias before March for Spring Graduation. Certificates will be awarded in the Spring at a special reception. Please notify by email your intention to pursue this certaificate, well in advance of the Spring quarter.
