On a hill in the west side of Istanbul is the Yildiz Sarai, one of the later palaces built towards the end of the Ottoman Empire. Not often visited this place is where, in one of the old palace buildings, one of the most prestigious ensembles of Turkish classical music rehearses each day. It was here I spent many days during my visits to Istanbul.
