Order
of the Rising Sun
In May 2005 I was awarded the Kyokujitsu Chujusho
旭日中綬章 (Order
of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon). This is the highest honor
that the government of Japan can bestow on a non-Japanese. The award was
made by the Emperor of Japan and I was granted an audience with the Emperor.
