• Japan - 1958-60


    • I carried out research on the Court Music of the Japanese Imperial Household, Gagaku on which I did my doctoral dissertation. The focus of this research was a study of the living contemporary practice of this tradition in the Japanese Imperial Palace and to trace from historical documents, the patterns of change which occurred during the 900 years ot its practice in Japan.
