Psychology 226 - Color Appearance Models: Cognition and Perception

Days, Times, Location: The Laboratory for Applied Cognitive Research, McGill Hall Annex Room B590.

Instructor: Kimberly A. Jameson Ph.D

REQUIRED COURSE MATERIALS:

PSY226 Collected Readings. University Reader Printing Service.

TEXT:

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

This course covers color appearance models (e.g., CIE models, OSA, etc.) and their use in perception and cognition research. Emphasis will be given to the theories underlying color appearance spaces; the derivation and interpretation of corresponding metrics; color difference tolerances; plausible linking propositions for color models and neurophysiology; and the ways these models are used in psychological and psychophysical experimentation. Content varies each time offered depending on Participants' interests.

Prerequisite: Permission of the Instructor. Course may be repeated up to three times for credit.
